Rupestrian Tejo

In partnership with Next Reality, it was developed for the Museum of Prehistoric Art in Mação a virtual reality application to view and explore the engravings and rock art of the Tagus river.

The application is a “roomscale” experience, which allows museum visitors to explore various rock cores in a natural way, being able to approach the elements of interest, which both for preservation and for their almost inaccessibility, due to dams and difficult access would be impossible.

Through photogrammetry and archive photographs it was possible to recreate the rocks with their engravings, as well as the surrounding environment through topographic maps. The engravings are divided by chronological line allowing to see their evolutionary line, as well as to highlight the overlaps that occurred.

Re|trai was responsible for the development of this application and all its features, with design and usability being the responsibility of Ana Afonso.
